From: 890491g@dragon.acadiau.ca (Don Graves) Subject: two drives (1 dos, 1 linux) Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1993 18:36:41 GMT
Please don't kill me if this is a FAQ, but...
I have:
486-DLC-33 with 8 megs of ram
twin 85 meg harddrives (MFM I think)
standard VGA monitor (but can do 640X480X256 because of 512K card)
(card is a trident 8900C)
DOS6 on C: (with doublespace)
empty dos-formatted drive D:
I want:
to leave the C: HD alone and put linux on the D: HD.
what I don't want to do:
anything to C: as I try to install Linux
Has anyone done this before? Or will I have to nuke C: and start
from scratch? I'm only planning on putting the basic linux setup
and X-windows (until I get the feel of linux on my machine at least).
Am I asking for too much, or is this possible. I would really like
to get around nuking my setup on C:, as it would be a pain to restore/
re-create. Or will not doing this be more of a pain?
-thanks a bunch in advance
-Don
BTW, in case you couldn't tell, I have never installed or used linux before.
I have used unix for a few years, but just not on my own machine.
