Subject: Fortran compiler for linux ?
Date: 9 Aug 1993 06:27:29 GMT

Hi,
As an extremely happy linux user, I would like to recommend
this path for a friend of mine who is out to buy an IBM clone
desktop. However, he insists on programming in fortran, and is
taken aback by the absence of a fortran compiler for linux.
Does anyone know where one can _BUY_ a decent fortran compiler
for a reasonable amount of money, that would work w/o too
much hassles on linux? Or is there a fortran compiler in the
works which might soon become available.

although f2c followed by gcc is a possible path, this does
not allow for any debugging (he will be writing his own programs)
since the resulting c is very hard to read (esp. for a fortran
person!!)

any pointers would be highly appreciated.
please email as I am not a regular reader of this group
        Thanks.
