I just purchased a 3c509 yesterday. I didn't even consider the possibility
that 3com would care for Unix drivers. Why would I waste time calling
3com?
Moral: in an environment where hardware companies are normally DOS obsessed
users are not going to even enquire about availability of other OS drivers.
Therefore whatever data you get from customer service phone calls
_underestimates_ the diversity in OS out there.
Leave cards in the box saying "if we get enough cards asking for a xxx
driver, we will do it, and we'll email it to you" and you will get those
cards back.
