actually, i'm not sure if that's the same with me, but it's been a
while since i checked. and you ARE right, that MOST of the time the
extra letter is the first letter in the hostname from which i login.
however, i tried a telnet from the linux box to itself, and logged in,
it's name begins with a 'u', but the extra letter this time was an
'l'. go figure. hmm.

i'm glad to see someone else has the problem, though.
