Subject: uninstalling LILO using fdisk /mbr doesn't work with DrDos 6.0
Date: 7 Aug 1993 04:09:32 GMT

I tried to re-install a DOS master boot record, using the
FAQ instructions ( boot from DOS floppy and issue fdisk /mbr ).
DrDOS obviously doesn't understand this option. It took me
into fdisk, and asked me which partition I wanted bootable:

1 40Mb Dos Primary
2 260Mb Dos Ext <- really the Linux Ext. partition
3 10Mb other <- linux swap partition

So, I didn't know any better, I made 1 the boot partition.
Upon reboot, LILO loaded linux which began fine until:

LILO loading linux
uncompressing...
kernel running
.
.
.
Partition check
  hda: hda2 hda3 < > hda4
  VFS: Mounted root (msdos filesystem)

Upon which time all progress stops until I cntl-alt-del.
Note almost the exact procedure happens when I load from the
  linux boot floppy.
  My configuration is
  hda1 ~40Mb Dos partition
  hda2 ~190Mb Linux Ext partition
  hda3 ~10Mb Linux swap
I've decided now that I want Linux to boot from the hard drive
and boot DOS from the floppy. How do I change the root (boot?)
  partition back to hda2 ?

I've tried to change it from DrDos, but it wont let me stating
that I must boot from a primary partition (rather than extended.)
I can't get Linux to boot, even from the boot floppy.
Do I punt and start over loading SLS (0.99pl9).
