All right, I've now heard what I have to do in order to get the basic
functions of word processing out of the present Linux/TeX environment.
It's got me running back to DOS like a scared rabbit. I don't really
want to learn a programming language in order to write my next novel.
TeX may be fine for programming wizards. That's fine. Heck, I've
known people to have written complete books using vi. I don't really
care if somebody uses TeX, emacs, pine, vi, or even edlin. However,
I require a WYSIWYG word processor. It simply takes too much time to
move in and out of programs to perform the various tasks. So, I think
I'll keep my PC-DOS on the shelf until Linux comes up with a WYSIWYG
word processor. I'll still use Linux, quite frankly, I like Linux.
Much more so than DOS. But the word processor, I need that for work so
I can't compromise on that one.
I'll continue to watch and wait for the word processor.
Later....
Dave.
