That's my experience, too. Running with several commercial
versions of UNIX I've seen no benefit to using the enhanced
mode, and the card uses 32 bit bus master to save data in the
1542 mode as well. I'm not sure what the enhanced mode buys you
at all, now that I think of it. We have SCO drivers for it, but
there's no measurable improvement form the 1542 config, and sar
works with the 1542.
I'd like to know just what the enhanced mode buys you, if
anyone really knows.
