Curt Olson (olson@cs.umn.edu) and I are working on putting together a
bsd-games package, and fortune is a member of the package. It comes
with the regular fortune file, semi-obscene fortunes (optionally installed),
a startrek fortune file, and one called 'zippy' which I haven't examined
very closely.
I have noticed that often people will collect quotes into topical fortune
files, for example quotes from the Simpsons or Dave Barry quotes. But
I do not know the location of any of these, and I don't have access to
the topical newsgroups to ask them.
If you have a favorite publically-available fortune data file, please send
me its location and I will list it in the README file so that Linuxers
can grab it.
If it's relatively small and you're willing to mail it to me, I can probably
include it in the package (as long as I can give it proper attribution too).
