Hello.
I'm having some problem with talk on my system. System information:
486DX/33 8MB RAM, 204+170M HDs, T8900c
No ethernet cards or other network stuff (including term).
SLS 1.0 upgraded to Linux kernel v.99pl9
My problem is that I can't get ntalkd/talkd to co-operate. I can ftp,
telnet, rlogin, rsh to myself (pretty useless, I'll admit), but users
can't use talk. When talk is used, the following messages appear:
[No connection yet.]
[Target machine does not recognize us.]
And then it exits. I've checked my inted.conf file and whatever else
I could find (man pages, etc.), but nothing referenced this problem.
Can anybody help?
On a related note, the write command on my system does not line-buffer.
It appears to be doing block buffering of some kind -- messages do not
get sent until the user hits ^D. (cat /dev/* is pretty crude, especially
for newbies)
