Subject: good for windows = good for X11?

I have a video card and an svga monitor that hold ms windows perfectly
(no flicker) on 1024 x 768 mode. Should it be good for X11 on the
same mode as well?
Currently I run X11 on 800x640. I'd like to push it up to 1024x768.
