I am wondering, given two identical controller cards, one having been
modified to work as a secondary (IRQ other than 14, etc), and connected to
identical drives, what would the performance of the two cards be?

Would there be identical performance (dependent on the controller itself)
or is there a performance hit to the secondary card (like using a device
driver to accomplish the same under MS-DOS)?

Why?
