[abbreviated]

I would almost agree with this train of thought. But, I need
to be convinced why the new group should not be called
         comp.os.linux.research

What needs to be answered are:
 1) what discussions are intended to remain in on comp.os.linux?
 2) Is it not too easy to confuse comp.os.linux as a place for
general discussion than it is to confuse
        comp.os.linux.[discussion_venue] for its intent?

Convince me and I'll help in the campaign effort.
