OK, I know which cards are supported. WD8003 and WD8013 are supported.
They are also not manufactured anymore. All of the new WD cards have names
(not numbers). Are any of the new cards "compatible" with the 8003?
SMC makes cards that are compatible with the 8003 and 8013.
What is the difference between a WD8000, WD8003E and WD8000EP?
WD8000 == No such thing
WD8003E == Ethernet, 8-bit
WD8000EP == no such thing (but if you meant WD8003EP, it's same as WD8003E).
Which ones of the supported cards are 16 bit cards?
SMC Elite/16, NE2000, 3c503/16.
(I have to buy a card to run linux because we have nothing other than
NI5210's in the department. If we buy a card, it has to be supported by
both linux and NCSA telnet. The only ones on both lists are WD cards
and 3com cards, and we have had bad luck with 3com in the past.
If someone can tell me another card supported by both (and currently
available) I would be very happy.)
All of the above cards have packet drivers, so you're safe with NCSA Telnet.
-russ <nelson@crynwr.com> What canst *thou* say?
Crynwr Software Crynwr Software sells packet driver support.
