Subject: Logitech Bus Mouse moves cursor in only 2 directions
Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1993 20:15:42 GMT

Hi all Linux programmers/hackers,

I have a logitech bus mouse and it is not communicating
properly with Linux. Here's the facts:

1.) Logitech bus mouse - about 5 years old
2.) using lstest SLS - pulled down last week
        3.) have 2 hard disks
4.) cards in my computer - IDE controller, cirrus logic graphics card,
                                   and mouse card
5.) CMOS - shadow ram enabled( I've tried it disabled ),
                   page mode enabled.
6.) when I boot up serial ports are at 3f8 and 2f8 and parallel
            at 378

I have /dev/mouse -> /dev/bmouselogitec ( all other bmouse* cause the X server
                                          to fail )

I have tried IRQ2 thru IRQ5 - all these work under DOS, and only IRQ5
partialy works under Linux. Also, my mouse card is set to 60Hz.

Symptoms:
When I move the mouse right the cursor moves left on the screen.
When I move the mouse up the cursor moves down on the screen.
I cannot get the mouse cursor to move up or right on the screen.

I have tried the latest mouse test program compiled with the latest gcc
compiler - it only responds to mouse movements in two out of the 4
directions - same as X.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

The only possibilities I can think of are:
1.) some set up file is wrong.
2.) there is an IRQ conflict( but mouse works under dos)
3.) the mouse device driver is off by a byte or two

Thanks very much for reading this!!

Paul.
