Well said. I bought a 386/40 for the same reason. Lots of horsepower
for a small amount of money. The fact that Linux would run well on
such a machine made my decision. My next box will be bought for the
same reason you listed above.. As much performance and the functionality
unix (or Posix) for an affordable amount of money. Let the next few
years determine the successor to our affordable 386's--be it a 586/686,
R4000, SPARC, or ALPHA.
