Subject: [Q] What C/H/S to use for ST3283N with fdisk
Date: 24 Apr 1993 19:40:32 +0200

I have acquired a 240MB SCSI drive from Seagate, a ST3283N, and have hooked
it to my ST-02. The ST-02 thinks the physical dimensions are
1378 cyl, 5 heads and 70 sectors. When I try to feed these values into
fdisk (You must set heads and cylinders ...), fdisk complains about
too many sectors (only 63 allowed). So I cut the sectors down to 63 and
entered my partition, 100MB DOS already there. Then I verified ...
fdisk did not like the Dos partition, it seems to start on side 8 of
the disk. Because I did not want to loose this partition, I quit.

My question: What settings should be used with a ST3283N? Are there better
versions of fdisk than the one shipped with SLS0.99.6?

Thank you for any suggestions,
Jochen
