I haven't had any luck running Minicom 1.4 or the Dosemu (0.48) under
the kernels I compiled whereas the 0.88 kernel included on H Lu's
combo disk runs them all without a hitch.
(I have 0.99 p6 and p.8 but they are gathering dust since they break these
very important programs).
For example the ALT-keys and the sound work properly under the "old" kernel
(from the rootdisk /bootdisk combo of H Lu), but they don't work with
the new kernels even if I change the configuration options for the kernel
keyboard driver.
Also, dosemu works fine running Dbaseiii and other "commercial" applications,
but as soon as I change the kernel and recompile the same Dosemu with the same
hard disk, etc. configuration, it won't even start up due to numerous errors.
Please understand: I am not griping about the kernel sources for 0.99 p6 --
it's more like: I'd like to know what H Lu does to his kernels because I
am sure that he must be changing something in the.h files
relative to the kernel which gets released to the net.
Mr Lu, please tell us how you make your kernel, whether you configure
the libs as well, since it seems there is something in the combo disks
that is sharp, lucid, almost intelligent, and I am certain you have
a couple pieces of advice...
Regards,
LH
