Is this a SCSI drive with possibly an 1542 controller? I have this
setup and just keeping the power on means that I hear the head seeking
every 5 minutes or so, possibly doing a reset. This happens with
MESSY-DOS or even with just the power to the drive and the cables
unplugged. I think this is normal with this setup. Maybe this is
normal for you too.
