I have been following this thread with interest. In fact I just
installed term on both my Linux machine and a Sparc (yeach!) at school.
Everything seems to be working fine (i.e. uploads, remote X-clients, two
way connections) but I have a few questions I was hoping someone could
answer.

1. When I trsh from my Linux machine to school by new sessions are not
recorded in /etc/utmp on the remote machine. Is this normal? Is there
anyway I can be recorded as a valid user (makes the write's and talk's a
little difficult)

2. I found the explanation on using tredef a little confusing. I don't
really seem to need it but can someone give a good explanation or better
yet a real example on how to set this up? What will tredef give me?

3. When logged in from school I have been trying to run an X-client off
of my Linux machine onto an X-terminal here. This should be possible
right? Anyways following the same process that I did from home I get
this when I run txconn.
(Btw my machine's name is nathaniel)

[2:15pm nathaniel] setenv DISPLAY nathaniel:9
[2:16pm nathaniel] txconn
Gethostbyname: Unknown host.
Xconn bound to screen 9
:9

Needless to say all X-clients die. Is there something else I should be doing?

Thank you for all responses.
