Subject: help with comm. programs in Linux

I've installed SLS and the communication programs don't seem to work right
for me. What am I doing wrong?

When I run minicom (or any other comm program) I can send, but
I can't receive.

I.e. I can type "atdt1234" and here my modem dial, but I can't see
anything on the screen. "AT"+ENTER doesn't give me the usual "OK"
prompt.

I can dial out and I hear the modem connect, but I don't see anything
on the screen.

BTW. If I turn echo on, I see what I type, but no "OK" after "AT"+ENTER
or "CONNECT...", etc.
