This is a very FAQ these days - could it be that the SLS distribution has a
bug?

Try one of these

su
cd /etc
ln -s inet/* .

...or...

su
cd /etc
mv inet/* .
rmdir inet
ln -s . inet

This was required by the relase notes on libc (version 4.3+ I think).
