nik,
I started using MGR back when I first got linux at .98pl5. I did this because
I didn't have a decent video car that would do X.

Anway,

PROS

It is FAST! Much faster than Xwindows even when X is running monochrome. It
did resolutions 800x600 and lower with no problems. I couldn't get higher
resolutions because I believe my Trident 8900B SVGA card wouldn't cooperate.

It was fairly easy to setup. Much easier to configure than Xwindows.

The library was easier to program than Xwindows stuff. MGR theoretically will
let you run remotely over a serial line fairly fast. This would give you
basically the equivalent of an MGRterminal without having to do anything
fancy. No one that I know of has actually done this but that is mainly
because MGR just hasn't caught on like it probably should. The src for MGR is
incredibley small so you can browse through it and make mods to your hearts
content. Very small ie. doesn't use much memory.

CONS

Lack of apps. Only apps that I found were the 15 that came with the package.
Other than that they are nonexistant. I don't think it does color either but
I haven't played with it since I got Xwindows to work.

Now that I think about it, I think I will go pull it down again.
