Subject: Linux Laptop - Advice?
Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1993 06:49:05 GMT

Hello!

In trying to narrow down my choices on a notebook/laptop computer to run Linux
on, I thought I would poll the Linux group to see what types of systems are
being used and get some recommendations. Things that I have been considering
'important' are:

         - Is 8 meg of memory room enough for X or just adequate?
Many notebooks can only take 8 meg, and if that isn't going
to be enough, I will have to remove them from consideration.

         - Has anyone found a laptop with a built-in ethernet port that is
supported under Linux? (The IBM ThinkPad 300 is one that I was
told has an Ethernet port, but I don't know if Linux supports it.)

         - Does Linux work with built-in trackballs? If the trackball isn't
useful, then there isn't much reason in having it in the way.

Thanks!
(If there is interest, I'll post a summary in 2-3 weeks...)
