Subject: UMC chipset motherboards?
Date: 13 Apr 1993 16:23:59 GMT

I'm considering buying a 486DX-33 motherboard with a UMC chipset to run
Linux on. I'm also intending to use my Adaptec 1540B SCSI adaptor with it.
I've heard certain chipsets (ie. Opti) have problems with DMA on
bus-mastering cards such as the 154[02]. Is there anybody out there using a
UMC chipset motherboard with a 154[02], especially one running a Real
Operating System 8-) (Linux, 386BSD etc) who can verify that the UMC
chipset works well with this sort of setup?

TIA.
