I belive that error 2640 means that you are trying to mount a device with a
specified file system that it doesn't have(ie telling Linux that it's a DOS
disk when it's a minix). I'm not absolutely positive about this, though(I'm
writing this at a NeXT station, not my personal Linux PC :). Also, the msdos
is in lowercase.
Since you're having troubles, I suggest the following: Apparently your
boot disk is OK(you got to the prompt). The root disk(a2 in the SLS release)
also must be rawwriten, like the a1 disk, for it to work. I'f you haven't done
this, simply write the file a2 to the floppy in the same manner you wrote a1.
Reboot, and then try to remount the floppy(it should mount correctly). A few
things to note: 1) the a1 floppy is _NOT_ mountable - it's an image of the
kernel, and does not contain a file system. 2) If you're using the most current
release of the SLS package(I'll assume that you are) you should be presented
with a small menu before the prompt comes up asking you which format your
installation disks are in. THIS MUST BE THE FORMAT OF YOUR a2 DISK FOR IT TO
WORK PROPERLY! If you specify a disk format OTHER than your a2 type, it will
not be able to mount the floppy, which will result in problems - for some
reason, once the a2 floppy is unmounted, it won't mount again(a bug??). If
you have two drives, you can leave the boot floppy in A: and specify drive 2
for installation - just note that whtever drive(and format) you specify MUST
be in the format of a2, as well as the rest of your installation disks.

BTW: man pages are files, not built into the kernel, and as such the pages you
have available are VERY limited, - only the ones necessary for installation
utilities. The mount page is not on the root disk.

Hope I could be of some help! -Jonathan Ward
