From: hwrvo@kato.lahabra.chevron.com (W.R. Volz) Subject: telecommunications packages Date: 12 Apr 1993 16:01:08 GMT
I noticed that in the info sheet for linux that the telecommunications
packages for linux lists several different ones. I tried kermit and
that was a disaster. I tried minicom but there appears to be no man
pages or internal help. I got it connected but it dropped the line
several times. I can only run it as root and since I can't find and
man pages or internal help I can't figure out what to do to let a
non-root user use it. I also noticed pcomm and xcomm but can't find
any man pages on them and since it was late didn't go looking for them.
I've also noticed something called seyon and I think it is for X.
I looked on tsx-11 but couldn't find it. What I want is a modem communications
package that works under X. Where does one exist? All help is appreciated.
I'd much rather use linux that ms dos terminal, but right now, terminal
works. I just don't want to have to reboot just to make a transfer.
