G'day...
You got probs even booting the first two Linux SLS discs... well:
from the sound of it I have good news....
I think the main kernel and Linux is booting.. this is why i say that:
After the first ``Loading .......'' message appears it prints
what video mode ya wanna use.. then it clears the screen and
uncompresses the kernel.. next it does a search of all the devices on
ya computer.. and guess what.. the printer port is one of those
and from what you say its reaching the reset LPT port bit..
now.. i could tell ya what else to type to ket to a Unix ``sh'' prompt
but it wouldnt be any good for ya.. coz ya blind..
It appears that upon trying to set the video mode your video is getting
screwed up... I am running a trident 9000 chipset card.. and even
a few friends have experienced some probs with modes other than the default
80x25... so even if ya just type <space> it still doesn't work :(
ummm.. I would try to boot the machine with another video card (I know youve
already tried this, but wat ya got too lose) and perhaps even disable
the hard drive form the bios just too try to get it running..
