yeah...
try doing the same thing WITHOUT running X and see how it acts.

I deinstalled 'X' from my SLS system because I only have 8MB of memory and
some quick calculations showed that with a few xterms, xload, xbiff, xclock
on the screen and with the background processes (cron, etc...) I needed about
12 MB to not be swapping.

With 'selection' to allow cut/paste between virtual consoles, I can't come up
with a reason to want to run X anyway...
