First of all, many kudo's & thanks to all who have taken part in the
development of Linux. (I know, ya probably hear it a lot--but I had to
put in my $.02 worth.)
I have had Linux up and running for about a month now, have really
'enjoyed' the experiences to date. (Did a LOT of learning in the
process.)
Many, many of my questions have been answered by following the traffic
here
at the BBS in the FidoNet/Linux conference.
Now for my question (ya knew I'd have one didn't ya!).
I have looked thru the 'faqs, watched the traffic, played with the
system,
i.e. done just about all I can think of. Now I'm stumped. If anyone
has
set up PC terminals hardwired via the RS-232 ports, could you pass me
the
information on how it was done. The only reference I have been able to
find in the Faq's refer to hardware compatibility of a VT200, and a bit
of
information on connecting with/via a modem.
A quick rundown of my setup:
386/DX40 w/ 8Meg
Video (well I can run X in mono)
2 COM ports on an IDE controller
Internal 2400 baud modem on COM3.
RS-232 mouse on COM1.
Null modem cable on COM2.
As a note, the null modem cable should not be the problem as I use
the
same cable to run and RS-232 based network between the computers via
DOS.
Any help with this dilema will be greatly appreciated.
