Yes -- I unmounted the thing and ran fsck on it. ;-)
If your fsck is too stupid to do that, fix it.
I've never seen a problem that couldn't be fixed by letting fsck run
(with a suitably out-of-the-way copy of the superblock, if necessary),
but maybe that's just me.
