Following is a short excerpt from the readership report for March-93:
you can find the full data (as well as some explanations on how the
numbers are calculated) on news.lists. I've been doing this for some
time and nobody has complained, so here goes again..

Volume: c.o.linux is still on the TOP-40 list in traffic volume - indeed
c.o.l has reached nr 13 on the list with more than 7MB of messages the
last month (averaging about 150 messages/day if the statistics are
correct). Groups that see more volume are mostly picture groups
(notably alt.binaries.pictures.erotica at 16MB) or various discussion
groups like talk.abortion and the like.

Popularity: c.o.linux now has an estimated 52000 readers, which puts it
at nr 152 in the popularity list. Due to limited propagation (65%),
c.o.l.announce has "only" 39000 readers making it nr 278 in the
statistics. In fact, c.o.l seems to be one of the most popular unix
groups, although that may not be a fair comparison due to the still
limited propagation of the new 386bsd groups.
