Subject: no `root' directory when "doinstall"ing
Date: Fri, 9 Apr 1993 20:59:26 GMT

I'm trying to install LINUX and the "doinstall" program can't find some files.

I have 340meg HD. A 25meg partition to use as swap (eventually for DOS),
and a 325meg partition to install Linux on.
(I've partitioned my HD with `fdisk' already).

I've read the README (and DOWNLOADING, and FAQ, etc) file, and followed it:

BTW Menu says: "undefined C library functions. Light C shared image
   (use the real one instead)"

1. I "mkswap /dev/hda1 10240; swapon /dev/hda1"-- everything fine
2. I "mke2fs /dev/hda2 307560"-- still fine.
3. I "doinstall /dev/hda2"
        a) I choose the tiny system (A disks)-- for now
        b) when installing "faq", I get: "mv: cannot move `/root/fstab.tmp'
to `/root/etc/fstab': No such file or directory".
        c) After I say I don't have a 387, I get: "/root/etc/hwconfig: No
                such file or directory".
        d) etc.

I checked the "root" directory, and it's empty!?! I have
"pub/linux/SLS/a2" as of today (from tsx-11).

Am I supposed to get the "root" directory somewhere else, etc??
