This question comes up from time to time. Last year (maybe April or May)
a representative from Adaptec actually posted to this group (or its
predecessor) about why it is not really feasible to use this controller
under Linux. Basically it has to do with the 1522 relying very heavily
on the host processor for its intelligence. Maybe someone who has
the archives from last springtime can find his article and repost it.
Perhaps Linux has evolved in some way since that time which would
make it easier to support this controller (I kind of doubt it).
