Subject: SONY 535 CD ROM compatability?
Date: Wed, 07 Apr 1993 23:17:57 EDT

Will Linux support the Sony 535 CDRom? I am thinking of buying one used,
but dont want to since I will be running linux very soon.

It IS a SCSI drive, BUT, the controller will ONLY control the CDRom, and
the CDROM will only be controlled by that controller. (Proprietary
SCSI?)

SCSI is good - linux will like it, as far as I understand SCSI, CDRoms
and Linux compatability - but the proprietaryness of this "SCSI"
interface bothers me - anyone have experience with this?

Please email/forward me your response if possible. Thanks!
