I've been using two postscript packages successfully with linux for a
couple of months now.

psf - full-featured yet automatic ascii -> postscript printer filter
with tons of utilities. Very easy to build/install on linux. I
installed it without having to know very much about the guts of printer
management.

nenscript - publically-available enscript clone with a useful subset
of enscript's fuinctionality.

Sorry, don't have much info about version numbers and such. I got both
of them from the comp.sources.unix archive on uunet, ask archie for
the site closest to you.
