I am thinking about writing a compressing file system for linux. The
file system is intended for small disk space machines. Please
take the time to fill out the survey below; it will help me decide
if the project is worth while and make sure it meets your needs.
SURVEY
1) Would you use a compressing file system?
2) How much compression is useful? %
3) How much throughput are you willing to lose
reading? %
writing? %
4) Is it important that compression be selectable by file?
5) What file system would you like used for the base?
6) Why to #5?
7) Would you use it for all file systems or only root?
8) Would you use it if you had to reinstall?
9) If not, what if there was a utility to make a custom boot
and root for your system?
10) If the file system were extensively tested and beta-sited,
would you be willing to pay a reasonable fee for it?
11) What price would be reasonable? $

Thanks in advance.
For those who think that all software should be free, I hope I did not
offended you. I have five kids to support and must pay for my machine
somehow. When I no longer need to work for money, I will provide all my
software for free.
