Ok, I answered my own stupidity here so I might as well save any other idiots
who come after me...

Er, if you try to use tredir, you cannot just telnet to any damn address
you feel like. I tried 0 5000 with tredir redirecting 5000 to
128.2.232.4. Unfortunately, you need to telnet to a host listed in
/etc/hosts. So telnet softland 5000 worked perfectly. Perhaps that
should be a little more clear in the term docs....
