From: alecm@coyote.uk.sun.com (Alec Muffett - Sun IS - System Administrator) Subject: NFAQ: Do ISA cards cripple EISA performance ? Date: 2 Apr 1993 13:04:27 GMT
I've heard from a friend that if you have an EISA machine, and install
an ISA card of any sort, the bus performance will drop to that of an
ordinary ISA bus.
He's not certain of this info; he got it from a dubious book on PC
maintainence, and it may be out of date.
Can someone please tell me if this is true or not? Email preferred.
Thanks in advance,

ObLinuxInterest: I was considering buying a EISA 486DX50+AHA-1740+500Mb
for Linux, speculating that Linux's EISA support would improve as time
continues. Obviously, in the meantime, compatibility, and use of ISA
cards in an EISA machine, would be an issue.
ObExcuse: anybody who knows what I do can guess why I _need_ a 50MHz. 8-)
