Subject: Xconfig for 5Max / Berlina 14"
Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1993 11:57:35 GMT

The good news:

Thanx to vgaset I now have a usable configuraion.
Hardware:
Monitor: Berlina 104075 SVGA Monitor, non interlaced, MPR II, 14"
  VGA Card: 5Max VGA Card, 1MByte, et4000ax
(the label on the floppy disks says 4Max ??)

All bought from SCT, Schadt Computer Stuttgart

Monitor specs:
video bandwidth 60MHz
synchronisation 30-38kHz, 47-50kHz horizontal
                        50-90Hz vertical
resolution 1024 x 768 non-interlaced (60Hz)
dot pitch 0.28mm

VGA Card clocks:
25 28 31.5 32.5 36 37.5 40 45 50 57 63 65 72 75 80 90

The bad news:

only the 25MHz 640x800s mode is as sharp as I want it. 28MHz is only
a very little less sharp. Any other resolution gets more and more
blurred, the higher resolution more than the smaller. vgaset helps to
get it centered, but not more.

Any Ideas?
cable problem? wrong vga card? wrong monitor?

related question:
any Ideas for a high resolution black&white monitor?
or do I have to buy an xterminal?

                                Tschuess
                                        Andreas
