Have you tried idoc? It's a WYSIWIG word processor that comes with InterViews.
It should be on your SLS distribution. It outputs tex, which outputs dvi,
and the dvips will convert that to postscript. All of that stuff is available
as part of SLS...
Btw, the "real" newsgroup for linux is comp.os.linux. I'd try posting your
xdm question there instead. The readership/volume levels are much higher.
This was the original linux newsgroup, but few people subscribe to it
anymore.
