I sincerely doubt it can be made to work without some new serial
driver code. The problem with the Viva is that it doesn't have
a UART Linux will recognize. A friend of mine bought one, and
couldn't get it to work under Linux. Later, he swapped it for a
Zoom, which has a 16550 UART, and Linux recognizes it without any
trouble.
