Yes, there is a fs which duplicates the super block : the ext 2 fs ;-)
Each ext 2 fs is made up of a set of blocks groups. Each group
contains 8192 (this is the default value but you will be able to change it
in the next ext 2 fs release). A copy of the super block is stored at the
beginning of each group so restoring a damaged is quite easy (OK, I admit
thet e2fsck does not implement super block restoration yet but it will come
in a future release).
