Hello.
After using SLS (.99.2, I think) and upgrading a couple times, I now have
some problems:
1. The /etc/utmp file is not kept up to date. I'm pretty sure this is not
a FAQ, but it has been asked before. When I boot up, everything is fine.
After I run X and quit, though, "finger" still shows a few users on
/dev/ttyp? devices (which aren't there). "w", though shows accurate info.
2. "w" doesn't show the current running program except for the /dev/ttyp?
users (i.e. If I log in on VC4, it only shows a "-" for what I am
running). I am using the /proc based ps/w/etc.
3. When are the interlaced T8900c drivers going to be made available for
Linux? They've been compiled for every other 386 UNIX...
4. (Minor nit) I recently found out about switching out of X by use of the
Ctrl-Alt-Fn to switch to another VC. The only problem is, while I was
running xdm, I exited one xdm session, only to find that all the other
VCs were totally messed up. I had to do a blind-logout from each of them
and then reboot. I'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem, or if
I was just a little hasty on switching consoles. Since I only have a slow
T8900c VGA card, I don't run any text-mode apps under X, so I have killed
xdm for fear of this inncident happening again.
Advance Thanks
