Too bad, you should only have known the following, quite intuitive facts:

 - dvips is hidden in /usr/TeX/bin
 - dvips appears to be unable to read from a non-file. At least, it
   insists on lseeking on it, even if invoked with -f or -f1

So printing an nroff document on a PostScript printer is as easy as
typing ...

  groff -man -Tdvi xtetris.1 >xtetris.dvi
  /usr/TeX/bin/dvips -f <xtetris.dvi | lpr
