Hello Linuxers,
I planned to buy an Adaptec AHA 1542 B SCSI controller. I know
that it is limited to Disks with a capacity of 1GByte. This is
somewhat crucial because I planned to buy a 1.2 GByte Disk
(unformatted). First I thought I can live with the possible
loss of 200MB if the 1G Byte limit of the controller means
unformatted size. If it means formatted size it does not matter
anyway.
Now the dealer told me that I can have a 1542 C version of the
controller for the same price. The new C version supports disks
up to 8 GByte. It is probably also faster than the B version.
Of course I wanna go for the new version IF
- Linux drivers support it.
Does someone have any experience ? Is the new version software
compatible (I doubt it) or are there already drivers available
or someone working on it ? I am willing to pay a reasonable
amount for it.
Please reply by mail.
Thanks for your help
Gerry
