Subject: VESA/HD Controller/Video Controller Options ???
Date: 1 Apr 1993 18:22:10 GMT

I am planning to buy a new PC for home and definitly want to run linux on
it in addition to DOS. I like to buy a video card with graphic accelerator
chip like S3 that works good with windows as well as X on linux (I had
diamond stealth 24VLB in mind ???). I like to buy a harddisk controller
that takes advantage of VESA and yet be SCSI to support a CD-ROM drive as
well, and yes, be supported well by DOS/Windows as well as LINUX. Finally,
any idea's on good VESA motherboards will be much helpful. Is there a
hardware/software compatiblity list somewhere that I can down load from
somewhere that may answer some of my questions ????

Thanks in advance, please mail directly to my Reply-To.
