I tried to install Xfree86 V1.2 on my pc with a Cirrus-Logic
CL-GD5422/26 vga-card (1meg videoram, supports 1024x768 noninterlaced,
640x480 true color). When I try to startx, the xserver just
bogs down, complaining that he can't find any of the installed
drivers, can't open the screen.
X386mono works fine, but it would be great to use the (true) color-modes ;-)
Has anybody installed Xfree86 on a similar configuration?
I'd greatly appreciate if there were a solution to include
support for my vga-card without having to recompile X.
