Hey, this posting is meant to be helpful, NOT insulting. Please send
flames via PRIVATE Email to avoid wasting costly bandwidth. Anyway,
this was my idea, Ive been seeing MANY postings here which quite simply
should NOT be posted here. I've also seen MANY people make complaints, whine,
etc without a good solution to this problem. Its getting pretty sad, with
all these postings as well as complaints, who knows what to read anymore.
I realize that I'm NO expert concerning Linux, but I do have a VERY nice
setup so I figured, why not give my two cents worth. Ive decided to
BEGIN a posting of what not to post here with some suggestions to boot.
Here Goes:
1. DO NOT POST MESSAGES CONCERNING C++ COMPILATION ERRORS!
this means no postings like (Minicom wont compile, HELP!)
READ ALL DOCUMENTATION CONCERNING COMPILATION, BUY A UNIX BOOK,
BUY A C++ manual, READ THE FAQ, post to a srcs group, and only under
EXTREME situations, contact the author via PRIVATE Email!
2. NO POSTINGS CONCERNING PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS OR PROBLEMS
this means no postings like (How would I suspend Seyon?, Term doesnt work
for me !?!?!, etc.)
SEE 1's suggestions!
3. NO POSTINGS CONCERNING SYNTAX OF COMMANDS!
this means no postings like (How do I stop a process???)
buy a UNIX book, read the man pages!!
4. NO POSTINGS CONCERNING THE VALIDITY OF LINUX!!!
this means no postings like (Why is Linux better then BSD?, WHAT SHOULD
I USE, LINUX or DOS?)
Buy a book discussing the advantages of UNIX over DOS, THEY DO EXIST
5. NO POSTINGS TO SIMPLY AGREE!
If you want to make the same point as someone else, post via PRIVATE
Email!!!
this means no postings like (Yeah, I cant get term to work either!)
6. NO POSTINGS DIRECTED AT SPECIFIC PEOPLE!
If you cant contact someone by EMAIL, try to CALL them on the
TELEPHONE, its a hella of a lot cheaper!
7. NO REPEAT POSTINGS IF YOU CAN STILL GET AT THE ORIGINAL
this means if you can still read an article, DONT post an article
with the same problem!
