From: umlippen@ccu.umanitoba.ca (Rick Lippens) Subject: [Q]: BEST solution to Partitioning Large DOS Drive Date: 30 Sep 1992 17:12:05 GMT
I've been reading this group, the FAQ's on the site, and wherever
else on Linux and am ready to install it on my hard disk. I am
familiar with DOS and UNIX, but not with partitions and boot sectors, etc.
Is there an EASY to use program with a fairly comprehensible set of
instructions available? I would like to do the following:
Partition my 180MB Hard Disk into 80MB LINUX, and 100MB DOS.
I understand that MKFS only allows for up to 55MB on a partition...
does that mean I need to further partition my 80MB LINUX into smaller
partitions?
Also, it would be nice if I could boot up and choose either DOS or
LINUX. I'm really searching for the simplest yet best solution without
having to experiment and re-install new partitions every time something
does not work out. Has anyone had successful experience without any
difficulties on an easy-to-use program?
I presume that OS/2's Boot Manager may be of assistance as well.
I'm lost, and need help!
Rick
