Oh no!!!! Another unGNU person who wants shareware!!! AAAUUUGGH!!!!

Linus (at least to my knowledge) has put his time and work in because he has wanted to, and thus has already received "compensation" he feels is worth it. Certainly there is nothing wrong with sending him money (if I had some, perhaps I'd consider it). Nonetheless...

Are you advocating crippleware? READ the GNU COPYLEFT which you
SHOULD HAVE DONE when you got Linux. READ the GNU MANIFESTO.
UNDERSTAND WHY Linux is free, and why "registering" it would CRIPPLE
its development and do nothing to help the world of computers at
large.

THEN if you have an opinion on things, discuss them.

Sorry for the horrendous EMPHASIS and FLAMING (not too much I hope),
but the "register" idea would undermine all of the work which has been
done. We'd have another SCO on our hands. Worse yet, AIX, which
can't even log users in with expedience. The point is that by Linus
not demanding monetary retribution for his efforts, he has caused
Linux to "take off" and improved by many, many people. Think of it -
would you have honestly bought a $500 commercial UNIX you couldn't
even get the source code for?
